OVERVIEW
This article details instructions on how to add Section Permissions within a module.
*Please note, you may need to have Authorities set up prior to setting up Section Permissions. For help with Authorities please follow this link.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Log into your Lighthouse instance and create a new module or locate the one you wish to add Section Permissions to.
2. Create a new Hidden field.
- Hidden fields will not appear on the front end of the form for users unless changed in the Section Permissions. Under Section Permissions you are able to select specific groups/users to view sections of a form that would otherwise be hidden.

3. Under the Fields tab, click on the “+” button and name your field. In the Default Visibility section, select “Hidden”.

4. Add any questions/prompts under the hidden field that you require.
5. After, navigate across to the Section Permissions tab. Click on the “Add New” (“+”) button, locate and select the “Role” (Authority) you have previously created.
6. Scroll down to “Permissions” and in the Authority and Complete row, select from the drop list which section (Field) is visible to which role (Authority).
- Expand, Validate: Section expands, section will need validating (Answering)
- Expand, Edit: Section expands. Fields can be edited and user will not be forced to answer
- Expand, Read Only: Section expands. User can’t answer sections – only read
- Collapse, Validate: User will need to click arrow icon on the right side of the section. Sections will need validating (answering)
- Collapse, Edit: Section will be collapsed. Fields can be edited and will not need answering
- Collapse, Read Only: Section will be collapsed. User can’t answer sections – only read
- Menu, Validate: Section can only viewed from menu. Sections will need validating (answering)
- Menu, Edit: Section can only be viewed from the menu. Fields can be edited and will not need answering
- Menu, Read Only: Section can only be viewed from the menu. User can’t answer sections – only read
- Hidden: Section will not show – hidden from user.
- Using Ctrl + → (Right arrow key) will fill across the permissions box with the same selection. E.g., Expand, Read Only
*Only on Windows Computers - Using Ctrl + ↓ (Down arrow key) will fill down the permissions box with the same selection. (See example below)

*Section Permissions apply straight away.
7. After the user submits their section of the custom form and it is allocated to a member of the Authorities. This is what will be seen from the managers (Authority) end.
